Are you Guilty of Credit Card Stupidity?

Gepost in: Credit Issues — @ 9:00 am

Are you the type of person who makes mistake after mistake with their credit card? If so, it is time for this to change. There is no reason that you should continue to let your credit card get you into trouble. If you do, you may eventually find yourself in a spot that you cannot dig out of.

Here are three common ways to be stupid with your credit card:

1. Spending more than your limit. If your limit is $5k this means that you can spend up to this number, but no more. What if I do? In this case, you are going to be hit with a penalty by your credit card company. New laws may prohibit you from being able to do this, but this will not hold true for all consumers. Know your limit and stick to it.

2. Not paying in full when you have the money to do so. This may be the biggest mistake you make. When you don’t payoff your credit card balance you will be hit with a finance charge. How much you pay in interest depends on your particular card. As a general rule of thumb, never put more on your credit card than you can afford to payoff when your statement arrives in the mail.

3. Losing your credit card time and time again. How many times have you lost your credit card in the past? If your answer is more than one, there is a chance that a pattern is developing. Losing your credit card not only puts your finances at risk, but it also wastes a lot of your valuable time.

Are you guilty of the above? If so, do what you can to avoid these problems in the future.
